Fake citations are annoying but easy to spot.

It's actually worse if you tell ChatGPT not to invent fake sources but to give you real sources. If prompted sternly enough, it gives you real papers, but they don't contain the 'facts' that it invented.

This is much harder to spot and takes a lot of time to fact-check. It actually makes using ChatGPT a waste of time when writing non-fiction.
