Consulting is profitable and rewarding. It’s not hard to get started, but you need the right attitude to succeed. Try these 3 hacks to boost your confidence and get customers fast.

1. Answer questions

In every industry there are questions that need answering. Your first step to a consulting gig is to start answering questions. Consulting requires expertise, so I am going to assume that you have some expertise and experience in your chosen field.

Trawl forums, LinkedIn groups and Reddit for questions from your industry that are (a) common (b) not being answered well. Then start answering those questions by writing blog posts or articles. Publish them on your own website (here’s how to make one) or use a platform like Medium or LinkedIn. Make your answers detailed, specific, readable and well-organised.

Choose one main problem and write about it relentlessly. Tackle the issue from multiple angles. In your writing, provide actionable advice that people can use to solve their problems.
